  Background and Negotiations
   

Chile and Vietnam agreed to begin negotiations of a free trade agreement that will cover, inter alia, market access, investment and services. Negotiations are scheduled to begin in no later than April 2008. The first round of negotiations was held in Santiago in October 2008. The second and third rounds of negotiations were held in Hanoi in May and August 2009. The fourth round of negotiations took place in Santiago on 28 and 29 September 2009. The fifth round was held on 25-27 November 2009. The sixth round of negotiations took place in Hanoi on 02 and 03 August 2010.
