  Background and Negotiations
   

Chile and Turkey agreed to study the possibility of negotiating a free trade agreement. The two governments set up a joint feasibility study work group towards this end. Free trade negotiations began after the Joint Study Group issued its final report. The second round of negotiations took place in Ankara, Turkey on 11 July 2008. Chile and Turkey held the third round of negotiations on 8 October 2008.
